The main research profile of the Department of Statistics is "Models and methods for analyses based on administrative and health registers, and other longitudinal studies". Our department has a tradition of applied research in statistics within the social sciences, behavioral sciences and medicine. Some areas of application include demography, educational measurement, disease incidence registers, fMRI, labour economics. Several researchers at the department are connected to the strong research environment "Ageing and living conditions" (ALC) and the Umeå SIMSAM network, which is a register-based research program which connects childhood with lifelong health and welfare.
